This is a webpage that gives information about what is going on at the Poverty Initiative Leadership School.
We have workshops where we get a chance to learn about things like movement building through communications and media; about the economic crises: How did we get in and how we get out? Religion and the biblical stories of ending poverty. And art! What is the state of the arts in Movement Building.
There are over 40 participating organizations from states across the country, the Dominican Republic, Scotland, and South Africa. West Virginia is host to this year’s Leadership School and we will be taking excursions to learn about the town of Charleston, the coal wars at Matewan and mountain top removal at Kayford Mountain.
The Leadership School is part of Poverty Initiative at Union Theological Seminary’s Poverty Scholars Program.
